There’s something mysterious and enticing about amber. Maybe it’s because it’s one of the few gemstones that was once a living thing (pearls and coral are among the others,) Maybe it’s because most amber is anywhere from 30 to 90 million years old.
In ancient times amber was concerned a protection against all kinds of things: snakebite, witchcraft, illness, and all kinds of evil forces. And it was expensive. In fact, today amber is probably less expensive in terms of the cost of living than it ever was before.
It’s made of fossilized tree resin, and its variety of colors are determined by the living vegetable matter it mingled with, and those little “imperfections” in it are the remains of insects and other small creatures.
These amber pendants are all from the Amber Desire website. The settings are all sterling silver, and they can be worn with a silver chain that you already own, or you can purchase one when you purchase the pendant.
