Well, I’m delighted. Just when I start to get a little down in the dumps, I get reminded that the world is a beautiful place, full of wonderful things. One of those things is the Hostess Twinkie Cake Snack Maker.
Not too long ago, we were thrown into a big scare by the Hostess bankruptcy, believing that we might never hold another delicious Twinkie in our hands again. Well, that turned out to be a false alarm, but what if it happens again? Could you survive the rest of your life without Twinkies?
The Hostess Twinkies Cake Snack Maker bakes 6 mini-Twinkies at a time, right on your countertop. They cook in just minutes, and the machine has a non-stick surface, and comes with a pastry bag (so you can fill ’em) and a recipe booklet.
If you’ve ever tried to make Twinkies in your oven, in the little Twinkie-sized baking pans, you know that it’s difficult getting them just right. The Twinkie Maker removes all the guesswork and bakes your Twinkies to perfection.
Getting the recipe just right can be a challenge, too, but the Twinkie Maker comes with its own recipe booklet, so you’re all set there. Remember that this is a licensed Hostess product, so presumably they have accurately captured that special Twinkies flavor and texture, and translated it into a recipe suitable for your home Twinkie baking machine.
If you’re more of a Hostess Cupcake person (and I’ve got to admit I love them even more than Twinkies), then there’s also a Hostess Mini Cupcake Snack Maker. It makes 8 mini cupcakes, and, like the Twinkie maker, has a non-stick surface and comes with its own recipe booklet. (Personally, I suspect its going to be difficult to get the little frosting squiggles just right, but I’m sure they’ll taste the same.)
Either the Twinkie Maker or the Hostess Cupcake Maker would make a perfect holiday gift for a friend or loved one, but you’ll probably want to pick up a spare for yourself. After all, it’s best to be prepared.
(Oh, and this little guy will keep your full-sized Twinkies fresh and unsquished. Wouldn’t he make a darling stocking stuffer?)
