The Wagner Power Products 503008 HT 1000 1,200-Watt Heat Gun is a great tool to have at home or on the job. It’s so  versatile at handling so many different needs. This heat gun can be used for lots of simple projects like thawing out pipes that have frozen (use the lowest setting so pipes don’t thaw too fast), removing paint or getting up floor tiles.

There are two temperature modes on the heat gun. The lowest gives you a temperature of 750 degrees and the highest gives you a temperature of 1,000 degrees. These temperatures are perfect for getting rid of ice that’s built up in a freezer or for freeing stubborn bolts that have become stuck due to rust.

It has 4,100 BTU so you can get paint off the walls – even if there’s more than one layer of paint. The tool has a weight of 1.9 pounds, making it lightweight – and the angle of the gun means it’s easy to grasp.

The settings on the tool are easy to change and it heats up fast. The gun can be used on various jobs around the home, but you’ll want to pay attention to the distance when using the tool at the 1,000 degree setting. When you’re removing paint, you don’t want to stand too close to whatever you’re removing paint from.

The gun has a great angle that’s good to use in areas of remodeling where you can’t get your hand and fingers in tight spots. You can just use the gun to remove the paint. The heat gun can also save on your electric bills by using it to insulate areas of draft around your home if you use it to mold the insulating film to windows.

The gun can also be used to melt plastic so that it’s easily shaped. The gun is great for soldering, for use as a shrink wrap tool for hobbies or crafts or in business projects. It can also be used for waterproofing canvas clothing or for projects calling for stubborn glue removal like from tiling.

The heat gun is gentle enough to be used on audio equipment and also for repairs on gaming consoles like the Xbox 360. It can be used for heating up connectors and it’s safe to use to remove the varnish from musical instruments.

One cautionary note is that you don’t want to hold the gun still while you’re using it. Keep it moving so the heat flow isn’t concentrated on one area.  To much direct, concentrated heat can damage the area you’re working on.
